AWA: Returning to the Liquid Origin
AWA is the reconnection with our original nature through the very element that gave us life. After 25 years of immersion and study in the waters of the world—from sophrology and rebirthing to the ancestral wisdom of indigenous communities and Māori midwives in New Zealand—I have come to understand that water is both a biological mirror and a catalyst for our true essence.
Floating Before Walking
Our first 280 days are spent suspended in the womb. In silence. Sustained. This is the nervous system’s primary memory, the foundational state to which AWA invites us to return. By immersing ourselves in the embrace of warm water or the vastness of the sea, we activate the neurobiology of that original stage, allowing the body to reclaim its territory of consciousness.
The Science of Deep Calm
Entering the water is a direct instruction for the soma—the indivisible unit of body, emotion, and perception that we are. Modern neuroscience validates what the body remembers by instinct:
Neuroscientific Concept – Impact on Your Soma
*»Blue Mind» State* Induction of a spontaneous meditative state that lowers cortisol and activates neural networks associated with mental clarity.
*Vagus Nerve Regulation* Buoyancy stimulates the parasympathetic system, facilitating the body’s transition from «survival» mode (stress) to «restoration.»
*Mammalian Dive Reflex* Awakening an evolutionary memory that optimizes oxygen consumption and slows the heart rate, inducing a peace that the intellect cannot manufacture.
*Sensory Integration* By releasing the grip of gravity, the spine expands and the three intelligences—proprioception, interoception, and kinesthesia—reset, allowing for profound reorganization.
The Element as a Bridge
AWA is the concept that bridges my training in Iwatsu and Aquasoma with a deeper, wilder vision. It is the space where thermal water returns us to the primordial womb and marine water connects us with the heartbeat of the earth.
«To submerge is to remember that we are, in essence, water that has learned to walk on land. It is to dissolve the rigidity that the outside world has carved into us and finally come home.»
AWA, layers of noise and tension dissolve so that the *Wild Hologram* can emerge: your original, fluid, and vibrant self. This exploration unfolds in three dimensions: Thermal Rebirthing, Marine Rebirthing, and the group experience of Awaichi.
